On these pages the Northernlights team are putting together a list of stops with food service if needed, some stops

will have sleeping and shower accomodation.

Living in the far north as we do, accomodation for lorries is scarce there are a few b.&bs that will give you space

also one livery yard will let you park your horsebox over night for a small fee there is no accomodation for people

though stables can be arranged for horses, Northfield equestrian, Halkirk, proprieters Mr and Mrs Henderson.

Acholone riding centre has b&b accomodation in the summer they are just off the A9 Halkirk turn off, there is

also a possiblity of stabling or turn out.

As you toddle down the A9 Berridale cafe make a nice cup of tea but parking is limited for larger vehicles it

is also on Berridale Braes a rather notoriusly steep and winding hill,

As you get towards Inverness from the north the Skiach cafe and services are just off the A9 by Evanton they

have good parking for lorries, fuel and food a bar and disco most nights, showers and toilets just in the main

lobby area. 0pening times Mon -Fri &am-10pm last orders 9-45 Sat-7am-8pm l.o 7-45 Sun 8am-8pm l.o 7.45pm

A few miles south of Inverness is Newtonmore riding and equestrian centre www.highlandridingcentre.co.uk

E-mail info@highlandridingcentre.co.uk.  This centre is just off the A9 and with pryer warning could poss accomodate you.

There are also stables at Aviemore  at mountain resort Aviemore Inverness ph221pl off A9

Its quite a long haul to the next truck stop at Ballaluing (unless you want to make a detour off the A9)

The Balliluing cafe has good facillities for heavy goods vehicles, horseboxs and cars alike, with good food,

served from 7am to 10pm (please check) it gets very busy in summer at peak times, the Fuel station is

all in the same complex.

As we travel further down the A9 we are heading towards Stirling and Glasgow best to avoid going off the A9 if

possible as it is very busy with lots of intertwineing roads easy to get lost unless satillite navagation system is

installed or a good map is handy as you head out of Glasgow there are a couple of truck stops that are interesting
